The contracts that use her name ask which office she announces for in 2028 and who she endorses in 2026; a separate New York contract prices the party that wins her district and never names her.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the New York contracts

Her district is priced, and she is not the thing being priced. A New York contract asks whether the House member sworn in for NY-14 for the term beginning in 2027 is a Democrat, which pays a party rather than a person and would pay the same way whoever holds the seat. It has no page on this site, and it names nobody.

The New York question that does use her name is an endorsement. Kalshi runs a set of contracts on who she endorses, each one naming a candidate and a race, and the New York entry asks whether she publicly endorses Claire Valdez in NY-07 before November 3, 2026. Every outcome in that set settles on a public endorsement and on nothing else, which means a contract can pay No while she campaigns for the same candidate without saying the word.

Current office and record

Ocasio-Cortez is the United States Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, and her House office identifies her by that district in its own releases. The position record gives four consecutive terms in the same seat with no gap between them: January 3, 2019 to January 3, 2021, then to 2023, then to 2025, and the current term from January 3, 2025 with no end date entered against it. She won the first at the 2018 House elections, succeeding Joe Crowley, and the current one at the 2024 House elections. Her party is the Democratic Party.

The record holds no other office for her. That matters to the reading of this page, because the questions on her name are about offices she does not hold rather than the one she does.

What has moved the market

Four of the five contracts on her name wait for a sentence she has not said, so the record of what she has said is the only thing there is to read. The three most recent releases on her House site are dated August 6, August 13 and September 2, 2026: a reintroduction of the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act with Bernie Sanders and Delia Ramirez, a joint statement with Nydia Velazquez on the water crisis in Puerto Rico, and a statement of opposition to the BUSES Act. None of them is a candidacy announcement.

The rules make that stricter than it sounds. Polymarket's contract on which office she announces for first requires an explicit and unambiguous announcement, and rules out an exploratory committee, a statement that she is exploring or considering a run, and any filing that arrives without an announcement attached. So a filing alone would not settle it, and neither would a report that she intends to run.

The vice-presidential contract runs on a different input again. It does not read her statements at all; it reads the first person the Democratic Party formally nominates for Vice President in the 2028 cycle who accepts, from official party sources, and a later replacement of the nominee does not change the result.

What happens next

The nearest date belongs to the endorsement set, which closes on November 3, 2026, the day of the general election. Her own seat is on that ballot: the New York State Board of Elections certified on July 31, 2026 that every congressional seat in the state is filled at the November 3, 2026 general election, and no contract that names her reads on that vote.

After it, the dates spread out. Polymarket's presidential-run question closes on December 31, 2026 and resolves No if no announcement has been made by then, while its wider question on which office she announces for first runs a year longer, to December 31, 2027. Kalshi's Senate question runs to April 1, 2028, and the vice-presidential listing waits on the 2028 Democratic convention with an August 10, 2028 date attached. Next review: October 4, 2026.

Other markets that name Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The 2028 cluster is the reason most of these contracts exist, and it is worth reading the three of them apart from each other because they are not the same question. Polymarket's presidential contract pays Yes on an official announcement of a run for U.S. President in the 2028 election by the end of 2026, and says the announcement alone is enough whether or not a nomination is ever filed. Its companion contract asks instead which office, Senator or President, she first announces for by December 31, 2027, and pays a third outcome if she announces for neither. Kalshi's is the shortest of the three: it resolves Yes if she runs for Senate in 2028 before April 1, 2028.

None of these has a page on this site, and none of them is a New York contract. Other New Yorkers a contract names are listed on the people index, and the New York races themselves sit under the elections pages.

Common questions

What do the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez prediction markets settle on?

An announcement in four cases and a party nomination in the fifth. The Kalshi and Polymarket contracts pay on an explicit statement that she is running for a named office by a stated date, the earliest of which is December 31, 2026, while the vice-presidential contract pays on whoever the Democratic Party formally nominates in 2028.

What office does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hold?

United States Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, held continuously since January 3, 2019 across four consecutive terms, the current one beginning January 3, 2025. Her House office identifies her by that district and the position record carries no end date against the term.

Is there a prediction market on Ocasio-Cortez's House seat?

Not on her. A contract does price NY-14, but it resolves on whether the House member sworn in for the district for the term beginning in 2027 is a Democrat, so it pays a party and names no person.

How does the Ocasio-Cortez 2028 Senate market resolve?

Kalshi's contract resolves Yes if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez runs for Senate in 2028 before April 1, 2028. Polymarket's related contract is stricter about what counts, ruling out an exploratory committee, a statement that she is considering a run, and a filing that arrives without an announcement.

When does the Ocasio-Cortez presidential run market close?

December 31, 2026, at which point it resolves No if no official announcement of a 2028 presidential run has been made. The wider Polymarket contract on which office she announces for first runs to December 31, 2027.
