Who publishes this site

New York Predictions is published by Market Movers Media Inc. The site covers prediction markets on New York questions: the races on the state's ballot, the clubs that play here, the cost of living in the state and the weather over its cities. One desk writes every page under the NYPrediction Staff byline, and the publisher can be reached at hello@marketmoversmediainc.com.

This is not an exchange. The site takes no trades, holds no money and runs no market of its own. Nothing on it is sold and there are no accounts to open.

Where the numbers come from

Market prices on this site are exchange prices supplied by Prediction Genius and shown as percentages. Prediction Genius reads the public feeds of the exchanges that price a contract and passes those figures through. This desk reports them.

A percentage on this site is what a market implies, not a forecast or a recommendation. It is the level traders have settled on, and it moves for reasons that range from a court filing to one large order. Where a single exchange is the only venue pricing a contract, the page says so, because one book is not a consensus. Where two venues disagree, both figures are given rather than averaged into one.

The prices are live and the prose around them is not. A written page states the rule a contract settles by, the record behind it and what would change the read; the board on the page carries the figure.

What this site does not do

No page here tells a reader what to do with a contract, and no exchange is described as better, cheaper or safer than another. Nothing on this site is investment, financial or legal advice. An exchange is named as the place a contract is priced, and nothing further is claimed for it.

This desk does not set or influence any price shown here. Every figure originates with an exchange and reaches the page unchanged.

Whether a New Yorker may trade a given contract, and on what terms, is a separate question. The legal status page sets out what the public record says as of a stated date, and draws no conclusion the record does not carry. Commercial relationships, of which there are none, are listed on the disclosure page.

Corrections and reviews

Corrections are made on the page they concern and dated. A correction is not folded quietly into a rewrite: the page says what was wrong and when it was put right. An error of fact can be sent to hello@marketmoversmediainc.com with the page and the sentence it appears in.

Every page carries the date it was last looked at. Legal and election pages are reviewed every 14 days and after any filing or result. Team and person pages are looked at every 30 days, guides and section pages every 30 days, and pages of this kind every 180 days. A page whose date has passed stays live and stays linked; it is re-read, not withdrawn.
