The Liberty Are Favored in Game 3 at Barclays While the Title Board Prices Their Season as Nearly Over

Kalshi and Polymarket both had the Liberty at 61% to win Game 3 on October 9, 2026, yet Polymarket had them at 8% for the title, which means the market sees one home win as likely and three straight as a long shot.

The Liberty vs Dream Game 3 is an elimination game. The New York Liberty host the Atlanta Dream at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7:30 pm ET on October 9, 2026, trailing the best-of-five WNBA semifinal 2-0, and a loss ends their season. Atlanta won both games at State Farm Arena, 92-82 on October 4 and 101-98 in overtime on October 7, according to ESPN's box scores.

As of October 9, 2026, Kalshi and Polymarket both had the Liberty at 61% to win Game 3, and Polymarket had the Dream at 40%. That makes New York the favorite for one night, which means the market reads the first two games as close enough for home court to swing a single game back to the Liberty, even after two losses.

How Atlanta won twice at home

Game 1 turned on possession. The Liberty committed 21 turnovers, counting team turnovers, and Atlanta scored 32 points off them, per ESPN; the Dream had 14 steals and 18 fast-break points to New York's none. The game swung in the third quarter, which Atlanta won 32-15 after New York had led 40-37 at halftime. Sabrina Ionescu scored 27 on 10-of-20 shooting and Breanna Stewart added 19, but Jordin Canada scored 25 for Atlanta and DeWanna Bonner added 23. The Liberty made all 15 of their free throws and still lost by ten.

Game 2 was closer and stranger. New York made 35 of 64 shots from the field and Atlanta made 34 of 84, and the Liberty still lost 101-98. The gap was in extra chances: Atlanta grabbed 11 offensive rebounds to New York's five and committed nine turnovers to New York's 17, which is how the Dream took 20 more shots. Atlanta also made 21 of 23 free throws to the Liberty's 16 of 23. Regulation ended 88-88, and the Dream outscored the Liberty 13-10 in overtime. The game was never more than a few possessions either way: Atlanta led 56-54 at halftime and 75-74 after three quarters, the lead changed hands 17 times, and Atlanta's largest lead was eight points, per ESPN. New York won the fourth quarter 14-13 to force the extra period and then scored ten points in it.

Stewart carried New York in Game 2 with 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in 43 minutes. Jonquel Jones added 21 on 8-of-11 shooting, and Marine Fauthoux scored 20 on 8-of-10, including four three-pointers. Ionescu, who led the team in Game 1, scored 10 on 3-of-8 with seven assists. For Atlanta, Angel Reese and Canada scored 23 each, and Canada added eight assists.

One Atlanta number cuts the other way. Rhyne Howard has shot 10 of 40 from the field across the two games, 5 of 20 in each, and the Dream have won both anyway. Atlanta has not needed Howard to shoot well to beat New York, and a better night from her is the plainest route to a sweep.

What the Game 3 price says

The 61% Game 3 price, set on both Kalshi and Polymarket on October 9, 2026, is a judgment about one night at Barclays. It treats the Liberty as more likely than not to win a single home game against a team that beat them twice on its own floor, which is consistent with how close Game 2 was: tied at the end of regulation and decided by three points after overtime.

It does not say the Liberty are the better team. The Dream finished the regular season 30-14 to New York's 26-18, per ESPN, and entered the playoffs as the No. 4 seed to the Liberty's No. 8. Atlanta also closed the regular season with back-to-back double-digit wins over the Liberty in Brooklyn, according to NBC New York, so the Dream have already won at Barclays this year. The price makes New York the favorite despite that record, because the most recent evidence, a three-point overtime game, says the two teams are close.

The Liberty have also done this before in this postseason. As the No. 8 seed they eliminated the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx in the first round with two 16-point wins, the first No. 8 seed to knock out a No. 1 seed, per NBC New York. Stewart opened that series with 34 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in a road win, and Stewart, Ionescu and Jones combined for 60 points in the clincher. That run is the case for New York extending the series: the Liberty have already won consecutive games against a higher seed in October. Atlanta reached the semifinals by sweeping the No. 5 Washington Mystics. A series win would send New York to its third WNBA Finals in four years, per NBC New York; a loss would end a season in which the Liberty finished four games behind Atlanta in the standings and then took the league's top seed out in two games.

What the title board prices

The WNBA Finals board is the longer view, and it is far less generous. Polymarket, the only venue pricing that contract, moved the Liberty from 12% on October 5, after Game 1, to 8% on October 9, 2026, to win the 2026 title. The same board had the Dream at 44%, the Golden State Valkyries at 39% and the Las Vegas Aces at 12%. The 8% says the market sees a Game 3 win as likely but three straight wins over Atlanta, followed by a Finals series, as a long shot.

The two numbers fit together. A Liberty win on October 9 would keep the season alive without changing the arithmetic much: New York would still need two more wins over the Dream, one at Barclays and one in Atlanta, before a Finals series. The Game 3 price is about whether there is a Game 4; the title price is about whether the Liberty, who have not beaten Atlanta since June, when they won the one regular-season meeting played away from Barclays Center, can beat them three times in a row.

Injuries and the other semifinal

ESPN's injury report for Game 3 lists Satou Sabally and Elizabeth Balogun as out for New York. Atlanta lists Allisha Gray as day-to-day, with Matilde Villa and Brionna Jones out. Gray played 11 minutes in Game 1 and did not appear in Game 2.

In the other semifinal, the Valkyries lead the Aces 2-0, with Game 3 in Las Vegas at 9:30 pm ET on October 9. Both series can end the same night, which is why the board has the Dream and the Valkyries at the top: each is one win from the WNBA Finals.

What happens next

Tip-off at Barclays Center is 7:30 pm ET on October 9, 2026, on ESPN2. If the Liberty win, Game 4 is at Barclays Center on October 11, with the time to be announced, and a Game 5 would be played in Atlanta on October 14, per NBC New York's schedule. If the Dream win, Atlanta advances to the WNBA Finals and the Liberty's season ends.

The live title board is on the Liberty WNBA Finals market page, the Liberty team page carries the club's other boards, and the rest of New York's fall schedule is on the sports hub.
